Sure, Shirley Temple captures the highest rung of child actor icons … in her younger years …

When it comes to natural, spunky real kidness, Virginia is the one.

Even when she reached those awkward teen years, Virginia had more chutzpa than Shirley, who seemed earnestly stilted and boring.

Ginny had gumption to spare in her cinema adventures … She wasn’t a ‘fraidy-cat girly girl!

She held her own with the BIG stars in The Women, 1939, and The Philadelphia Story, 1940 … I appreciate her just as much in the smaller films …
